Why Atlas?
A Titan from Greek mythology, Atlas is a towering representation of strength and endurance who is said to have been condemned by Zues to hold up the weight of the heavens for eternity after the war between the Titans and the Olympians. Throughout our own lives, we are all similarly “condemned” to bear the weight of the world on our shoulders. While we may not be getting literally crushed by the weight of the sky, by coming into the world, we each are sentenced to struggle with the weight of our own inevitable tragedies, hardships, responsibilities, and search for meaning. At Atlas Athletics, we believe that it is what you do under this weight that defines you. A heavy barbell might as well be the weight of the heavens just as the never ending pursuit of self actualization is our own eternal sentence. We are Atlas and he is us. So what will you do with the weight of the sky? Will you let it drop? Or will you lift it above your head?
